We’re the the Otago Professional Programmes Spaces Association or just OPPSA for short! A crew on a mission to make student life just a bit better (and way comfier). We know studying is tough, but finding a great place to snack, recharge, and pretend to study, shouldn’t be. That’s why we’re all about upgrading your favourite hangout spots with more microwaves, chairs you want to sit in for longer than five minutes, and maybe even sneaking in a pool table for those well-deserved study breaks. We’re a mix of health professional students from all programmes, working together to make our student spaces a home away from home. Come for the comfy seats, stay for the good vibes.
"If comfy chairs and coffee machines help students study better. I suppose I support this initiative."
- Dr Jerin Matthew (we wish)
We didn’t start with a blueprint or a budget, just a group of students tired of nowhere to sit, and a broken fuusball table. So we decided to do something about it. OPPSA was born out of a simple idea: student spaces should be made for students, by students.
We’re not interior designers or microwave technicians (yet), but we know what makes a space feel like it belongs to us. And that’s what we’re building, one chair, one Nintendo, and one student suggestion at a time.
